Trident ID (TRusted IDENTity) is the name given to the new identification cards that are replacing the legacy ID cards which were suspectible to forgery and durability issues.
In the future, residents will also be able to use their Trident ID to pay for bus fares on routes served by the Barbados Transport Board. This is possible because Trident ID cards support contactless technology.
You must be a Barbadian citizen or a foreign national with permanent residency, immigrant status, reside and work status, a work permit [1], a student visa [1], a Welcome Stamp visa, a CARICOM Skilled National certificate, a Special Entry permit or Right of Establishment.
To apply for a Trident ID card, visit the Electoral and Boundaries Commission at Warrens Tower Il. There is free on-site parking. Upon entering the building, the Commission occupies the first room on the left. Please speak to the receptionist on arrival. There is usually a ticket system in place; if you are not given a ticket number, ask if you need one before taking your seat.
It is not possible to apply via the official website due to technical issues. Persons who applied on the website before online applications were suspended will need to visit the Commission at Warrens Tower II to complete the registration process.

If you've never registered before, you are required to furnish photographic proof of identity (e.g. your passport or certificate of citizenship).
You must furnish your foreign passport and the visa or certificate that proves your entitlement to reside in Barbados. Visitors are not eligible to register.
Persons on the Welcome Stamp visa must ensure their visa shows an Issue Date before applying. If your visa does not show an Issue Date, which should be emailed to you after you arrive in Barbados, you will need to contact the Immigration Department to request a copy of your visa with the Issue Date affixed.
All Trident ID cards have an expiration date, which is usually 10 years following the date on which it was issued. For persons residing in Barbados on a work permit or Welcome Stamp visa, the expiration date will match that of the work permit or visa.
If you need to replace your Trident ID card, you are required to visit the Electoral and Boundaries Commission at Warrens Tower II, St Michael. You will be charged a fee of BBD $60 unless you are exempt. Please note the Commission accepts cash payments only.
